WHY TENCEL?

Tencel ™ Lyocell fibers are obtained from the raw material wood (grows on certified and controlled cultivation areas) according to the strict guidelines of the Lenzing wood and pulp policy. Tencel is one of the few fibers made in Europe. The timber industry in Central Europe has been geared towards sustainability for decades. The forests in Germany have grown steadily in recent years and have thus contributed to the storage of carbon dioxide and thus to climate protection. The natural fibers are manufactured in a closed production process. In the process, pulp is converted into cellulosic fibers with high resource efficiency and low ecological impact. The process water is recycled, meaning that more than 99% of the solvent is reused. This manufacturing process was awarded the European Environment Prize by the European Commission in the category "Technology Prize for Sustainable Development" back in 2000. Because of the smooth fiber surface, Tencel™ Lyocell absorbs moisture much more efficiently than cotton. This supports the body's natural thermoregulation and gives the skin a refreshing and dry feeling. Even at high temperatures, the fiber retains its properties and has a light, pleasant and cooling effect. Tencel ™ Lyocell fibers absorb moisture much more than, for example, polyester and other synthetic fibers because of the excellent moisture management. As a result, there is significantly less moisture on the fiber surface for bacterial growth. Tencel ™ Lyocell fibers are an extremely unfavorable environment for bacterial growth and are therefore much more hygienic than synthetic fibers. Lyocell is therefore particularly popular with people with neurodermatitis and skin irritations. Due to the ability to absorb moisture, Tencel ™ Lyocell fibers are tension-free without electrostatic charging. Under normal atmospheric conditions, there is no electrostatic charge compared to synthetic fabrics. The electrostatic charge built up over the day is dissipated on contact and cannot build up again overnight. Because of these properties, we are convinced that Tencel is the right choice for our sustainable Xiero T-shirts and Lutex duvets and other products.
